The crystals are not really part of the classical Feng Shui in ancient China, but we now have access to many beautiful crystals and semi-precious stones in the modern days. Feng Shui Crystal Types
The very basic 2 types of crystals include artificial and natural material. We focus on the natural crystals because they hold the most vibrations from the earth.
The artificial crystals can be useful too. They often have many small facets, and act as a prism, reflect light, and magnify the surrounding energy. The clear glass type works better than acrylic or plastic.
It is better to place artificial crystals near a light source or by the window for the sun-catcher effect. The artificial crystal often comes with a red string for good luck.
General functions of crystals
Feng Shui crystals generally can raise the energy of the space. When there is a limitation in space and the Feng shui arrangement is not ideal, the easiest remedy is to place a big crystal. The natural crystal holds stronger energy than the artificial one. Bigger size crystal is generally more powerful too.
It is even better if you can perform a ceremony before placing the crystal. This usually involves the physical cleaning of the stone first by wiping or wash with water. Then, purify or recharge them with one of the 4 methods mentioned below (sun/moon, incense, ceremony in a temple, place in a bigger crystal geode). Before setting up the crystal in place, you can pray and state your intention to enhance the function of the crystal.
Crystal types by color and 5 elements
The function of crystals in Feng Shui use is usually by colors based on the corresponding five elements. Below are the five-element charts, including the generating cycle (Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water, …) and the controlling cycle (Earth controls Water, and Metal controls Wood, ….). By display different color crystals, we can strengthen or reduce the power of a certain element.

Fire element — red, orange, or dark purple crystals
Earth element — yellow, brown, and earth-tone color crystals
Metal element — white, clear, or metallic colors
Water element — black or blue color crystals
Feng Shui crystal functions by colors
The function of Feng Shui crystals is usually categorized by colors.
For enhancing wealth luck, use yellow or green color crystals.
For good health, display or carry clear quartz, green or brown crystals.
For wisdom and intelligence, use clear, white, purple, or blue crystals.
For love and relationship, use pink or purple crystals.
To absorb negative energy, black color is the most powerful such as black obsidian.
If you just want to increase general good luck, you can combine the 5 element colors or the 7 chakra colors together. Maybe as a crystal tree or a bracelet.
How to recharge or purify your crystals
Re-charging a crystal is usually done when you first got the crystal or after displaying it for a while (a few months or years). When the crystals look dull and tired, it is time to recharge.
There are many ways of cleansing or charging a crystal. Here are 4 common ways we apply.
Place under sunlight or moonlight for a few hours. Some crystals, such as moonstones, do better with the moon method.
Bring the crystals to a temple and go circle above the incense burner. Pray and have some rituals for activation.
Place smaller crystals inside a crystal geode. Bigger crystal holds bigger energy field to recharge smaller crystals.
Burn incense and let the smoke surround your crystals.
Different forms of crystals
Crystals come in different shapes and forms. They can be combined with different elements for stronger power. Popular forms include crystal trees, crystal fountains, crystal sculptures or statues, and don’t forget the crystal jewelry.
